Save Thousands by Restoring, Not Replacing Chicagoland winters are tough on hardscapes. Freeze-thaw cycles and ground settling often cause pavers to shift, sink, or heave over time. Many homeowners assume the only solution is a costly teardown.

At Chicagoland Paver Sealing, we specialize in the "Lift and Re-Lay" technique. We surgically remove the affected area, repair the underlying foundation, and reinstall your existing stone. The result is a "like-new" surface for a fraction of the cost of installation.

Our Repair Services
Leveling Sunken Areas (The "Birdbath" Fix) Do you have puddles that form in the middle of your patio after it rains? Or tire ruts in your driveway? This is caused by base failure.
-
The Fix: We extract the pavers, add and compact new gravel and bedding sand to the proper grade, and reinstall the pavers so water sheds away from your home correctly.

Edge Restraint Repair The plastic or concrete edge restraints that hold your patio together often heave up from frost or snap over time. When the edge fails, the pavers start to drift apart, creating large gaps.
-
The Fix: We dig out the perimeter, reinstall heavy-duty edge restraints, and secure them with 10-inch steel spikes to lock your hardscape in place.

Fixing Loose or Rocking Steps Loose pavers on steps or stoops are a major liability and safety hazard.
-
The Fix: We disassemble the steps, remove the compromised adhesive, and rebuild them using high-strength masonry adhesive and proper leveling techniques.

Crack & Chip Replacement Snow plows and heavy impacts can crack individual bricks.
-
The Fix: If you have spare pavers left over from the original installation, we can swap out damaged bricks seamlessly. Note: If no spares are available, we can often "steal" bricks from a less visible area (like under a BBQ grill) to use for the repair. We call these "Donor Pavers".

Why You Must Fix the Base (Not Just Add Sand) A common DIY mistake is simply pouring sand over a sunken spot. This is a temporary band-aid. If the ground underneath has settled, the sand will simply wash away, and the hole will return.
-
The Professional Difference: We go deep. We fix the sub-base (the compacted gravel layer) because that is the true foundation of your driveway.

Repair & Seal: The Perfect Combo
Repairs often disturb the joint sand and leave the "new" area looking cleaner than the surrounding old bricks. For the best aesthetic results, we highly recommend pairing your repair service with a full Clean & Seal.
-
This ensures the entire patio looks uniform.
-
It locks in the repairs with new Polymeric Sand.

Frequently Asked Questions About Repairs
-
Can you match my existing pavers if I need replacements?
-
Matching old pavers is difficult because sun and weather fade colors over time. We highly recommend using spare pavers you may have stored. If you don't have spares, we will do our best to find a close match or use the "Donor Paver" technique from hidden areas.
-
-
Will the repaired area look different?
-
Initially, the repaired area might look cleaner because we had to scrub those specific bricks. This is why we recommend cleaning and sealing the whole surface afterward to blend everything together.
-
-
Do you repair stamped concrete or asphalt?
-
No. We specialize exclusively in brick pavers and natural stone hardscapes.
